Our love story began with three simple words on Instagram: “Touch your heart”. Little did I know that those words would lead me to literally touch her heart, forever. Our connection blossomed after I replied to her Instagram story, a simple reply for guessing the drama she’s currently been watching on, which was Touch Your Heart. We grew closer each day, bonded by our shared hobbies and interests.
On April 24, 2020, we officially began our relationship. In the midst of the pandemic, while she studied from home and I was unable to go to work overseas, we found an unexpected gift: the time and opportunity to get to know each other deeply.
Eventually, I returned to my work as a seaman overseas, and reality set in. We were forced to face the challenges of a long-distance relationship. Despite the ups and downs, our love endured, proving that we could overcome any obstacle together.
Four years into our relationship, we had learned to truly know, accept, and teach each other, but above all, we continued to love one another unconditionally.
As 2024 drew to a close, I was still on board my vessel. My contract was scheduled to end before Christmas, and I had planned on attending a worship concert by Sidney Mohede in mid-December. However, unforeseen circumstances led me to believe I wouldn’t make it home in time, and I shared this unfortunate news with her. What she didn’t know was that a change in plans meant I had a new opportunity to come home earlier. The only problem was that I had already missed my chance to buy tickets for the concert.
Just as I was about to give up hope, my prayers were answered. A second concert was announced, and new tickets went on sale. With the help of my friend, JM, I was able to secure two tickets. To my surprise, I saw a specific song on the setlist: “Only You”, a beautiful collaboration between Sidney Mohede and Mr. Andi Rianto (Yes, the song that’s currently been playing in this Wedding Invitation). When I first heard the song back in 2021, I had decided right then and there that it would be our wedding song. I knew this was the sign I had been waiting for. The perfect opportunity to take the next big step. I immediately began preparing for that special day.
She was completely shocked when I arrived home earlier than she expected. I was so happy to finally pull off a successful surprise, as it’s something I’m not usually good at. Then, on December 11, 2024, she was shocked (again!) and happy when she realized I had secured the tickets to Sidney Mohede’s concert. We then went to the show, and I waited patiently for “the song”. My heart raced with nervousness, worrying that they might not play it since it was a worship night and all the songs that had been played were Praise & Worship songs only. But then, Mr. Andi Rianto walked out with his grand piano. A huge wave of relief washed over me.
When the chorus began, I gathered all my courage, knelt down on one knee, and asked her to marry me. She said yes! This beautiful moment is the reason we are so excited to celebrate our journey with all of you, our favorite people.
